Benadryl Allergy Relief contains Acrivastine 8mg. This medicine is used to relieve the symptoms of hay fever such as sneezing, runny nose, watery eyes; and other allergic conditions like pet or dust allergies.

What is Benadryl (Acrivastine) allergy relief?

Acrivastine is a type of antihistamine medication so it works by stopping the effects of histamine (type-H1) in the body. Histamine is released by the body in response to an allergen and it is responsible for the symptoms associated with allergic reactions and hay fever. Blocking the effects of histamine can provide relief from the symptoms of hay fever and allergies.

How does Benadryl (Acrivastine) help with allergies?

Benadryl (Acrivastine) has been in clinical use for many years and it's safety and effectiveness has been proven internationally. Further studies after coming to market has shown that Acrivastine has a quicker effect on suppression of allergic flare responses (at 30min) compared to Cetirizine and Loratadine (D Bayramgürler 1999) Cetirizine, however, showed to be superior to Acrivastine due to better effectiveness and duration of action especially for wheal & flare reactions. 

Adults and children 12 -65 years: One 8 mg capsule, as necessary up to three times a day.

Recommended dose of Benadryl (Acrivastine)

Very common (may affect more than 1 in 10 people): Drowsiness 


Common (may affect up to 1 in 10 people): Dry mouth, Dizziness
