What is Otrivine (Xylometazoline) nasal spray?

Xylometazoline nasal spray works by opening up and clearing the nasal passages by reducing the excessive nasal secretions and returning the swollen blood vessels to their normal size.

How does Otrivine (Xylometazoline) nasal spray help allergy symptoms?

Xylometazoline has been in use since 1959 and it has shown to be safe and effective treatment for relief of blocked and runny nose caused by allergy, cold and sinusitis.

Does Otrivine (Xylometazoline) nasal spray really help?

Adults and children over 12 years: One application in each nostril up to 3 times daily as needed.

Do not exceed 3 applications daily as instructed; Otrivine should not be used for more than seven consecutive days, prolonged or excessive use may cause rebound congestion.

Recommended dose of Otrivine (Xylometazoline) nasal spray

Like all medicines, Otrivine Congestion Relief 0.1% Nasal Spray can cause side effects, although not everybody gets them. Stop using Otrivine Congestion Relief 0.1% Nasal Spray and seek medical help immediately if you experience: 

• Allergic reactions which may include difficulty breathing or swallowing, swelling of the face, lips, tongue and throat, severe itching of the skin, with a red rash or raised bumps. 

Common (affects between 1 in 10 and 1 in 100 people): 

• Headache, Nasal dryness/discomfort, Nausea, Local irritation after using the spray 

Very rare (affects less than 1 in 10,000 people): 

• Hypersensitivity including rash and pruritus, Disturbances of vision, Palpitations and increased heart rate
