Early Premature Ejaculation (PE) is a condition where a man cannot control or delay his ejaculation. According to an NHS survey, the average length of sexual intercourse is 5 and a half minutes. However, it varies between couples and it is up to individual partners to decide if they are happy with how long it lasts. There is no specific time associated with PE, but it is thought that anything under 2 minutes may be classed as premature. PE can take a toll on a man’s confidence and self-esteem and lead to emotional and sexual frustration. PE can prevent men and their partners from having enough time to enjoy sex which can affect relationships and intimacy.

Dapoxetine is the active ingredient in the medication known as Priligy. It is a tablet licensed in the UK for the management of Premature Ejaculation (PE) in men aged 18 to 64 years. It can be used in men who experience symptoms of PE on a recurrent basis and who ejaculate in less than two minutes. Dapoxetine can improve your control over ejaculation and increase the amount of time it takes to ejaculate helping to improve your sexual experience and intimate relationships. Dapoxetine should be taken only as required about 1-3 hours before anticipated sexual activity. No more than one tablet should be taken every 24 hours.
EMLA is a topical cream that contains two active ingredients, Prilocaine and Lidocaine. These are local anaesthetics or numbing agents and when applied to the penis, can help reduce its sensitivity and prolong the time taken to ejaculate. EMLA cream should be washed off before starting to initiate the intercourse.

Premature Ejaculation (PE) - or Early - is a condition where a man cannot control or delay his ejaculation. PE can take a toll on a man’s confidence and self-esteem and lead to emotional and sexual frustration. PE can prevent men and their partners from having enough time to enjoy sex which can affect relationships and intimacy.
PE is one of the most prevalent conditions among men and is believed to affect between 1 in 3 to 1 in 5 men. These figures could be significantly higher but less than a quarter of men seek help for PE. Although PE is more common in men aged under 35 years, particularly those with limited sexual experience, it can also develop later in life.
PE can be caused by several physical and psychological factors. The most common cause is performance anxiety particularly at the start of a new relationship but can also be due to depression, nerves or stress. Health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, prostate issues and thyroid problems can cause PE while excess alcohol and recreational drugs can also contribute. It is believed that men who have a lower amount of the chemical serotonin in their brain can have problems with ejaculation.
How we can help you
Thankfully, PE can be managed effectively with our range of treatments. Occasional episodes of PE are not a cause for concern, but if over half of your attempts at sexual intercourse result in PE it may be beneficial to seek some help. The two main options are oral tablets and topical creams that aim to delay ejaculation for a more satisfying sexual experience for both partners.
